I graduated from the Crane School of Music in NY with a Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance and Music Education, received a Masters degree in Vocal performance from the University of Texas and was a music educator for thirty years, teaching private voice and choruses in NY, Texas and South Carolina. I also became a vocal coach and adjudicator in barbershop and contemporary music.

I toured for twenty four years singing as guest artist with various symphony and chamber orchestras across the US as well as recital work with renowned pianists, guitarists and other instrumentalists.

I am now the proud director of Sonrisas Harmony A Capella Chorus.

I feel that my role as the Musical Director of any performing group is to bring out the very best in each vocalist. It is important to get to know each singers musical strengths and weaknesses and continue to challenge them weekly. It is crucial that criticisms are given with great care, since the instrument we are speaking of is a part of our bodies and it becomes a very personal thing. It is important to point out what is going right with a piece of music as well as what is wrong, and do it genuinely. I never give compliments unless they are earned. It means more to the chorus and the individual singers when accolades are not given without merit. After forty six years of being a vocal coach and choral director I continue to work with choruses because of the great feeling of taking a chorus on a musical journey…watching them grow as musicians and in their confidence. It is a feeling for me like none other. I hope I have many more years ahead of me working with Sonrisas Harmony!

Sonrisas Harmony formed in September 2022.  We are a multi national women’s a cappella chorus.  This means we sing in four parts, Lead, Baritone, Bass and Tenor,  singing both modern and traditional songs.  Some of our songs have been arranged for us personally.

When we first started we were fifteen members in total. We have now grown to forty two members and one musical director.

As a chorus we pride ourselves on being friendly, fun loving and caring.  Our aim is to  support each other through singing, social events and celebrations. Our rehearsals are always fun and energetic.

We rehearse every Wednesday in:

Centro Cultural Las Claras, Los Alcazares from 10.30am until 13.30

 It’s a great opportunity to meet new people.
